What this trial studies

BE FIT 24 is a national, prospective, multicenter interventional pilot in the Czech Republic aimed at early detection of childhood overweight and prevention of obesity. About 1,000 children aged 6–11 with BMI between the 90th and 97th percentile will be enrolled across roughly 100 sites in a one-year, gamified lifestyle program combining fitness bracelets, an interactive mobile app, and family-focused educational resources on a web portal. The primary clinical target is a 5% reduction in BMI after completing the program, with activity monitoring, app challenges, and routine site follow-ups used to drive and measure behavior change. The project is supported by the European Social Fund and the Czech state budget and is designed to test feasibility for wider implementation in the healthcare system.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Children aged 6–11 years with BMI between the 90th and 97th percentile whose parents provide consent and agree to GDPR data sharing are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Children with BMI outside the 90th–97th percentile, those with chronic diseases requiring continuous pharmacological treatment, or families unable to use the wearable or app or attend site visits may not receive benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, participating children could reduce BMI and adopt healthier activity and nutrition habits that lower future health risks.

How similar studies have performed: Previous interventions using wearables and gamified apps have shown mixed but often short-term improvements in activity and modest BMI changes, so this pilot builds on promising but not definitive evidence.
