What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the awareness and experiences of anesthesiologists regarding the secondary victim phenomenon, which refers to the psychological and occupational impact on healthcare professionals involved in medical errors. Conducted at Selçuk University, the study will utilize an online survey that includes demographic questions and the T-SVEST scale to evaluate various dimensions of secondary victim experiences. The survey will gather data from 200 volunteer anesthesiology physicians, focusing on their experiences, support needs, and the effects of adverse patient events on their professional lives.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are actively working anesthesiology and reanimation physicians who volunteer to participate.
Not a fit: Patients who are not anesthesiology professionals or who are not currently practicing in the field will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding and support for anesthesiologists facing psychological distress due to medical errors.
How similar studies have performed: While the concept of secondary victims has been recognized, this specific approach to assessing anesthesiologists' experiences is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
