What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Nelli software in detecting seizure events in adults suspected of having nighttime seizures. Participants will undergo video-electroencephalography (vEEG) monitoring while Nelli continuously records audio and video to identify seizure events. The study will compare the accuracy of Nelli's seizure detection against the clinical gold standard, which involves review by epileptologists. The primary goal is to demonstrate that Nelli can identify seizures with a sensitivity greater than 70%.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults undergoing video-EEG monitoring for suspected seizures.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have suspected seizures or are not undergoing video-EEG monitoring may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate and timely detection of seizures, improving patient management and outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of machine learning for seizure detection is an emerging field, this specific approach with Nelli is novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
