What this trial studies

This study compares three different methods of treadmill training for patients with Parkinson's disease to evaluate the effectiveness of augmented reality (AR) and dual task (DT) training. Participants will undergo training over three weeks, with assessments focusing on falls, walking, freezing, and attention over a three-month period. The study is designed as a double-blinded randomized controlled trial to ensure unbiased results during regular neurorehabilitation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with Parkinson's disease who have experienced at least one fall in the past three months and have gait disorders.

Not a fit: Patients with dementia or those unable to participate in treadmill therapy due to physical limitations will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve gait stability and reduce falls in patients with Parkinson's disease.

How similar studies have performed: While augmented reality applications in rehabilitation are emerging, this specific approach has not been widely tested, making it a novel investigation.
