Assessment of surgical repair outcomes for proximal ACL tears over five years
5 Years' Follow-up Assessment of Surgical Repair for ACL Proximal Rupture
GCS Ramsay Santé pour l'Enseignement et la Recherche · NCT06178497
This study looks at how well surgery works for people with torn ACLs over five years to see if they still have knee instability.

What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the long-term outcomes of surgical repair for isolated proximal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures. It focuses on patients who underwent surgical intervention between January 2019 and July 2021, assessing the relapse rate of knee instability over a five-year follow-up period. The study considers various factors such as patient demographics, injury characteristics, and treatment history to provide a comprehensive understanding of surgical repair effectiveness. The findings aim to fill the gap in literature regarding modern ACL repair outcomes compared to traditional ligamentoplasty.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older with isolated proximal ACL tears and no significant prior knee surgeries.
Not a fit: Patients with contralateral ACL tears or more severe ACL injuries (Sherman 3 or 4) may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of surgical repair for proximal ACL tears, potentially improving treatment strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While numerous studies have focused on ACL ligamentoplasties, this specific approach to assessing modern ACL repair outcomes is relatively novel and underexplored.
