Assessing the reliability of ankle joint imaging techniques

Assessment of the Ankle Joint Axis Using a Long Ankle View Radiograph

Mein Fusszentrum AG · NCT05943236

What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the reliability of a specific measurement procedure for generating long ankle view radiographs. It involves a radiographic assessment followed by a manual evaluation of the medial-distal tibial angle (MDTA). The procedure will be repeated by different observers to assess both intra- and interrater reliability. The study aims to determine the consistency of various assessment methods applied to the same radiographic image.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals over 20 years old who require a radiographic assessment of the lower half of one leg.

Not a fit: Patients with previous lower leg surgeries, fractures, or obvious malalignment will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the accuracy of ankle joint assessments, leading to better diagnosis and treatment planning.

How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific measurement procedure, similar studies assessing radiographic reliability have shown promising results in improving diagnostic accuracy.
