What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the testicular function and semen quality in male survivors of childhood and adolescent cancer who are now adults. Participants will include men aged 18 to 50 who received chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer diagnosed before age 18 and have been in remission for at least two years. The study will compare their testicular function with that of age-matched controls from a premarital check-up clinic. Data will be collected through hormonal profiling, semen analysis, and questionnaires.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are men aged 18 to 50 who received cancer treatment before age 18 and have been in remission for at least two years.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide semen samples or have specific medical conditions such as testicular cancer or are on testosterone replacement therapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide critical insights for improving pre-treatment counseling and post-treatment care for young male cancer survivors.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in assessing long-term effects of cancer treatment on reproductive health, making this approach both relevant and necessary.
