What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the acute and chronic phases of ischemic cerebral stroke by utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic tools, specifically tongue and pulse diagnosis. The study will involve patients over 40 years old who have been diagnosed with ischemic stroke and are within 10 days of their cerebral vascular accident. By collecting and analyzing data through TCM methods, the researchers hope to identify changes in the stages of ischemic stroke, potentially leading to better patient outcomes. The study will be conducted at China Medical University Hospital and YuanRung Hospital in Changhua.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients over 40 years old who have been diagnosed with ischemic stroke and are within 10 days of their stroke event.
Not a fit: Patients with unstable vital signs, cognitive impairments, or those unable to participate in tongue and pulse examinations may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance early intervention strategies for ischemic stroke patients using TCM, potentially improving recovery and reducing long-term disability.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of TCM diagnostic tools is a novel approach in stroke assessment, similar studies have shown promise in integrating traditional methods with modern medical practices.
