What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the quality of life and life satisfaction among pediatric and adolescent gymnasts aged 8-18 years who are recovering from musculoskeletal injuries. Participants will be recruited from Children's Hospital Colorado sports medicine or orthopedic clinics. The study focuses on understanding how injuries impact the overall well-being of young athletes during their recovery process.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are male and female gymnasts aged 8-18 years involved in Excel or Developmental gymnastics programs with a current musculoskeletal injury.
Not a fit: Patients who are retired gymnasts, adult or collegiate gymnasts, or those participating only in recreational gymnastics may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into improving support and rehabilitation strategies for young gymnasts recovering from injuries.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on quality of life in athletes, this specific focus on pediatric gymnasts recovering from injuries is relatively novel.
