What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Arabic version of the De Morton Mobility Index for assessing mobility in patients who have undergone abdominal surgeries. It will involve a cross-sectional design with 106 participants aged 40 to 60 years, randomly selected from Mansoura International Hospital. Data will be collected using the De Morton Mobility Index, which consists of 15 tasks that measure various aspects of mobility. The study follows a structured translation process to ensure the accuracy of the Arabic version of the index.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Arabic-speaking patients aged 40 to 60 who have recently undergone abdominal surgeries.

Not a fit: Patients with mental disabilities, communication disorders, or those contraindicated to mobilize due to medical reasons may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a reliable tool for assessing mobility in Arabic-speaking patients post-abdominal surgery, potentially improving postoperative care.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific Arabic version of the De Morton Mobility Index is novel, similar mobility assessment tools have shown success in other populations.
