What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the pulmonary status of patients following ENT cancer surgery, particularly those who have undergone tracheostomy. It focuses on identifying postoperative respiratory complications, such as atelectasis, using lung ultrasound as a non-invasive diagnostic tool. Ultrasound scans will be conducted in the post-anesthesia care unit on the first and second days after surgery to analyze any pulmonary abnormalities. The goal is to improve postoperative care and outcomes for these patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults undergoing ENT cancer surgery with tracheostomy.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those with pre-existing tracheotomy or tracheostomy will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the monitoring and management of respiratory complications in patients after ENT cancer surgery.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of lung ultrasound in postoperative settings is established, this specific application in ENT cancer surgery is relatively novel.
