What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the impact of posture on the health and work ability of professional musicians in orchestras. Over three years, 250 orchestral players will undergo postural assessments in various venues, starting with a questionnaire about their lifestyle, professional activity, and health history. The postural evaluations will be conducted in two phases: first without an instrument and then while playing their instrument, using disposable ECG electrodes for accurate measurement. The goal is to identify factors that contribute to musculoskeletal disorders among musicians.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are professional musicians from major Italian orchestras.

Not a fit: Patients who have pain associated with acute trauma will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved health and performance outcomes for musicians by identifying effective strategies to prevent posture-related injuries.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on musicians' health, this specific approach focusing on posture assessment in orchestral settings is relatively novel.
