What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the feasibility of health-related materials designed for young adults who wish to have more positive experiences when consuming alcohol. Participants aged 18-24 who have experienced heavy drinking and alcohol-related consequences will be randomized to receive health messages through online modules and text messages over a period of 20-30 days, or to a control group receiving only assessments. The main outcome will focus on the usability and acceptability of the materials, while secondary outcomes will assess changes in drinking behavior and related consequences. The study aims to gather insights on how effective these interventions are in promoting safer drinking practices.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are young adults aged 18-24 who have experienced heavy drinking and alcohol-related consequences in the past month.
Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the inclusion criteria or cannot verify their identification will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help young adults make more informed and safer choices regarding alcohol consumption.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using health messaging to influence drinking behaviors among young adults, suggesting this approach may be effective.
