What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the exercise capacity, physical fitness, and activity levels of children and adolescents diagnosed with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) compared to healthy peers. It focuses on understanding how CAH affects respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, as well as overall physical performance. The study will involve participants aged 8 to 18 years, who will be assessed for various metabolic and cardiovascular parameters that may influence their quality of life. The findings could provide insights into the specific challenges faced by this population in terms of physical activity.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and adolescents aged 8-18 years who have been diagnosed with congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases that may affect measurement parameters or those unable to cooperate may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for enhancing physical fitness and quality of life in children with CAH.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on exercise capacity in other populations, this specific focus on children with CAH is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
