What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the prevalence and outcomes of prescribing drugs that have significant interactions with anti-tuberculous medications among patients diagnosed with tuberculosis at the Tuberculous outpatient clinic at Kasr Alainy. Over a period of six months, the study will enroll approximately 400 patients, collecting detailed medical histories, including demographics, TB type, comorbidities, and current medications. The study will not involve any experimental interventions, focusing instead on routine clinical practices and patient education regarding drug monitoring. Patient confidentiality will be strictly maintained throughout the study.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with tuberculosis who are receiving treatment at the Tuberculous outpatient clinic.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse to participate or are not diagnosed with tuberculosis will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the safety and efficacy of tuberculosis treatment by identifying harmful drug interactions.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in identifying drug-drug interactions in various patient populations, making this approach both relevant and necessary.
