What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the audiovestibular function in patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia, focusing on potential differences between male and female patients. It seeks to understand the prevalence of auditory and vestibular symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, which is often characterized by chronic pain and fatigue. The study will include patients aged 15 to 50 who meet the diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia, while excluding those with other specific conditions that could affect hearing. By analyzing these factors, the study hopes to shed light on the complex nature of fibromyalgia and its impact on auditory health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 15 to 50 who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
Not a fit: Patients with other causes of hearing loss or those not meeting the fibromyalgia diagnostic criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of fibromyalgia and lead to improved management strategies for patients experiencing auditory and vestibular symptoms.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on audiovestibular assessment in fibromyalgia, studies have shown that fibromyalgia can be associated with various neurological symptoms, indicating a need for further exploration in this area.
