What this trial studies
This study examines the outcomes of arthroscopic repair for isolated meniscal lesions in children and adolescents, focusing on how these treatments can influence the functional prognosis of the knee. It aims to determine the effectiveness of restorative treatments, particularly meniscal sutures, compared to non-conservative options like meniscectomy. The research will analyze data from patients treated at Strasbourg University Hospital over a 12-year period to identify factors that affect treatment success.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are minors under 18 years old who have undergone meniscal repair surgery at Strasbourg University Hospital.
Not a fit: Patients with discoid meniscus lesions or those who have opted out of data reuse for research purposes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment protocols for pediatric knee injuries, enhancing recovery and long-term knee function in young patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with arthroscopic approaches for meniscal repairs, suggesting this methodology is supported by existing literature.
