What this trial studies

This is a randomized, controlled, pre-test–post-test trial conducted in a Konya middle school with 64 sixth-grade students randomized to an art-based nursing intervention or a control group. The intervention uses structured creative art activities delivered by nursing staff to strengthen expressive skills, teach coping strategies for online challenges, and boost self-efficacy related to digital use. Outcomes include measures of digital addiction behaviors, experiences of cyberbullying, and self-efficacy before and after the program. Students and parents provide written consent and sessions require regular in-person attendance at the school.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are 6th‑grade students who speak Turkish, attend the participating Konya middle school, and whose student and parent provide written consent, without recent participation in a similar program or serious conditions preventing art activity participation.

Not a fit: Students with serious psychiatric diagnoses or physical disabilities that prevent participation, those who do not attend sessions regularly, or those outside the specified grade/language eligibility are unlikely to benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could reduce problematic digital use and cyberbullying while improving adolescents' confidence and coping skills online.

How similar studies have performed: School-based and art-therapy psychosocial programs have shown promise for improving self-efficacy and reducing risky online behaviors, but art-based nursing interventions specifically targeting digital addiction are relatively novel.
