What this trial studies
This quasi-experimental study evaluates an AI-enhanced smartphone app designed to assist adolescents aged 14-20 in quitting e-cigarettes. The app provides personalized, real-time support for managing cravings and motivation to quit, integrating features like goal setting, progress tracking, and a chatbot for immediate assistance. Participants are divided into two groups: one that uses the app immediately and another that starts after a three-month delay, allowing researchers to assess the impact of app access timing on cessation outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 14-20 who currently use nicotine-containing e-cigarettes and are interested in quitting.
Not a fit: Patients who do not use e-cigarettes or are outside the age range of 14-20 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly improve e-cigarette cessation rates among adolescents.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using digital health interventions for smoking cessation, indicating potential success for this approach.
