What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Kick-Nic! app in helping high school students quit vaping. Participants will be randomly assigned to either use the app or access a control website with quitting resources. Over an 8-week treatment period, participants will engage with the app or website, with follow-up assessments at 1, 2, 3, and 6 months to measure abstinence rates. The study also includes qualitative interviews to gather feedback on the app's implementation and effectiveness.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are high school students aged 13-19 who are regular e-cigarette users and wish to quit.

Not a fit: Patients with unstable psychiatric conditions or those not currently using nicotine-containing e-cigarettes may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly improve vaping cessation rates among youth.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile applications for smoking cessation, indicating potential success for this approach.
