Anonymizing and combining past clinical, genetic, and imaging data from people with multiple myeloma to build AI prediction models.
Anonymization of Clinical Data From Pseudonymized Databases Collected as Part of Previus Clinical Trials on Multiple Myeloma
This project will try to use already-collected clinical, genetic, and imaging data from adults with multiple myeloma to build AI models that predict disease progression and treatment response, with no new visits or tests required.

What this trial studies
This is a retrospective, single-center observational project that integrates pseudonymized clinical, genomic, and imaging data previously collected at the Hematology Unit of IRCCS AOU di Bologna. The team will anonymize existing datasets and apply machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to link genetic, clinical, and imaging features with disease outcomes. No new procedures, tests, or patient visits are required because all analyses use past data from spontaneous trials beginning in 2021. The goal is to create predictive models that could help forecast progression and treatment response in future patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (age ≥18) with a confirmed diagnosis of multiple myeloma who were previously enrolled in spontaneous trials at the Hematology Unit, IRCCS AOU di Bologna and for whom pseudonymized datasets are already available.
Not a fit: Patients who were not previously enrolled at this center, whose records are missing or low-quality, or whose data cannot be anonymized will not be included and will not receive any direct benefit from this retrospective work.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the resulting models could help identify patients at higher risk of progression and guide more personalized treatment decisions in the future.
How similar studies have performed: Previous research using machine learning on genomic and clinical data in multiple myeloma has shown promising preliminary results but remains exploratory and not yet practice-changing.
