Analyzing veins using MRI and CT for post-thrombotic syndrome

Multicenter Study to Evaluate a Severity Score Using Venous MRI and CT in Patients With Post-Phlebitic Syndrome

University Hospital, Bordeaux · NCT06451484

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to enhance the diagnosis of chronic lower limb venous thrombosis prior to a recanalization procedure. It compares MRI and CT imaging techniques to determine if MRI can provide similar diagnostic information without the associated radiation exposure and discomfort from foot vein punctures required for CT. The study focuses on patients suffering from post-thrombotic syndrome, a common complication of deep vein thrombosis, which can significantly affect quality of life. By improving imaging techniques, the study seeks to facilitate better treatment planning for affected patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are men and women over 18 years old who can provide informed consent and have health insurance.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to understand the nature or risks of the investigation or are under legal protection may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to safer and more effective diagnostic methods for patients with post-thrombotic syndrome.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of MRI for this purpose is less common, previous studies have shown promising results in improving diagnostic accuracy for similar conditions.
