What this trial studies

This study aims to analyze the positioning of the scapula in patients undergoing reverse shoulder arthroplasty by comparing its position in standing and supine positions using a portable ultrasound system. Patients will have a localizer ultrasound performed during their surgical consultation or the day before surgery, with the goal of obtaining three-dimensional data on scapular positioning. The study is mono-centered and focuses on patients who are already in the pre-operative care process for shoulder surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults undergoing pre-operative care for reverse shoulder arthroplasty on a native shoulder joint.

Not a fit: Patients under 18, those unable to provide informed consent, or those refusing to participate will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve surgical outcomes by providing better understanding of scapular positioning in relation to shoulder arthroplasty.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have not been widely reported, indicating this may be a novel exploration in scapular positioning.
