Analyzing movement and strength after ACL reconstruction
Biomechanical Analysis of Dynamic Tasks and Muscular Strength Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
This study looks at how well athletes move and their strength after having surgery to fix a torn ACL to see when it's safe for them to return to sports.

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on patients who have undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) to assess their dynamic movement capabilities and muscular strength. It employs advanced 3D biomechanical testing to evaluate various sport-specific tasks, such as jumping and cutting, which are critical for athletes returning to multidirectional sports. The study aims to establish objective criteria for safely determining when athletes can return to sport after ACLR. Data collected will include patient demographics, surgical details, and pre-operative assessments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are active individuals over the age of 13 who have undergone ACL reconstruction at the Sports Surgery Clinic.
Not a fit: Patients with multiple concurrent orthopedic injuries or those who had surgery outside of the Sports Surgery Clinic may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide standardized criteria to help athletes safely return to sports after ACL reconstruction.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using biomechanical analysis for rehabilitation, but this specific approach may offer novel insights into return-to-sport criteria.
