Analyzing gut bacteria and metabolites in gastric cancer
Microbiota and Metabolomics of Intestinal Type of Gastric Cancer in the Context of Atrophic Gastritis
This study is trying to see how gut bacteria and their byproducts differ between people with intestinal type gastric cancer and those with atrophic gastritis without cancer.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to compare the microbiota and metabolomic changes in patients with intestinal type gastric cancer against those with atrophic gastritis without cancer. It will involve a prospective cohort of 32 participants, equally divided between the two groups, who will undergo magnifying endoscopy to assess the extent of gastric atrophy and the presence of early gastric cancer. The study seeks to uncover the mechanisms underlying these changes and their potential implications for understanding gastric cancer development.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with intestinal type gastric cancer or atrophic gastritis who have undergone endoscopic submucosal dissection.
Not a fit: Patients with other simultaneous cancers or severe systemic inflammatory diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the role of gut microbiota and metabolites in the development of gastric cancer, potentially leading to new diagnostic or therapeutic strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study may be novel, there is growing interest in the relationship between microbiota and cancer, with some studies indicating potential success in related areas.
