Analyzing gene changes in drug-resistant Multiple Myeloma

Transcriptomics and Epigenetics Analysis for Biomarkers Identification Involved in Drug-resistance Mechanisms of Multiple Myeloma

Observational Regina Elena Cancer Institute · NCT05888636

What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on understanding the genetic and epigenetic factors contributing to drug resistance in Multiple Myeloma (MM). It will analyze a cohort of patients with conditions ranging from Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS) to active MM, utilizing advanced techniques such as ChIP-seq, NGS, and ATAC-seq to characterize transcriptional and epigenetic profiles. The study aims to identify specific miRNA expressions and other genetic markers that differentiate between MM cells that respond to treatment and those that do not.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study include patients diagnosed with MGUS, smoldering MM, or active MM.

Not a fit: Patients with other hematological malignancies or those who are not diagnosed with any form of Multiple Myeloma may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies for patients with Multiple Myeloma by identifying new targets for therapy.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using transcriptomic and epigenetic analyses to understand drug resistance in various cancers, suggesting that this approach may yield valuable insights.
