What this trial studies

This observational study aims to analyze the clinical and neuroimaging characteristics of patients diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) in China. Participants will undergo psychological assessments, blood tests, and multiple brain MRI scans over a period of six months to explore the biological mechanisms and identify predictive biomarkers associated with BPPV. The study also seeks to establish a comprehensive database that can aid in the precise diagnosis and management of BPPV and its residual dizziness. Healthy controls will be included for comparative analysis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with BPPV and healthy subjects without a history of the condition.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of central nervous system diseases or mental disorders, as well as those who are claustrophobic, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and management strategies for patients suffering from BPPV and residual dizziness.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored BPPV, this specific approach combining neuroimaging and psychological assessments is relatively novel.
