Analyzing blood biomarkers in patients with Parkinson's disease

Serum Biomarkers in Parkinson's Disease at Different Stages

Not applicable Interventional Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS · NCT05769699

What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the clinical characteristics of patients with Parkinson's disease at various stages of the condition. It involves measuring biomarkers related to peripheral neurodegeneration, synaptic function, and inflammation through blood samples. By evaluating these biomarkers, the study seeks to enhance understanding of the disease's progression and its underlying mechanisms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-80 diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have inflammatory or autoimmune diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and monitoring strategies for Parkinson's disease.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored biomarkers in Parkinson's disease, this specific approach to measuring multiple types of biomarkers at different disease stages is relatively novel.
