What this trial studies
This observational study aims to retrospectively analyze the clinical, biological, and radiological characteristics of pediatric patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in Alsace during the years 2020 and 2021. It will include patients who were hospitalized in conventional, continuing care, or intensive care settings, as well as those with a strong suspicion of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The study will utilize existing medical data to provide insights into the impact of COVID-19 on children in this region during the pandemic.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients aged 1 month to 18 years who were hospitalized for COVID-19 or suspected of having the infection during the specified timeframe.
Not a fit: Patients who were not hospitalized for COVID-19 or whose parental authority did not consent to data reuse may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of COVID-19 in pediatric populations, potentially leading to improved treatment and management strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have documented pediatric COVID-19 cases, but this specific retrospective analysis in Alsace may provide unique insights into the local impact of the pandemic.
