What this trial studies
This study aims to collect and analyze sebaceous carcinomas from patients at Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli, both retrospectively and prospectively. The research will involve a detailed examination of the tumors using immunopathological and morphological methods, correlating these findings with molecular genetic factors. Surgical specimens will be utilized, and comprehensive histopathological data will be compiled to enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic pathways for these tumors. The study will also include advanced techniques such as exome and methylome sequencing to identify genetic variants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 years or older diagnosed with sebaceous carcinoma of the ocular adnexa.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age or those without sufficient clinical data or tumor tissue will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and treatment strategies for patients with sebaceous cell tumors of the eyelid.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in utilizing molecular biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and treatment, suggesting potential success for this approach.
