What this trial studies

This observational study aims to collect and analyze long-term speech perception results from recipients of cochlear implants who utilize electro-acoustic stimulation. The focus is on evaluating the performance of sound processors paired with acoustic earhooks in a clinical setting. By retrospectively reviewing data, the study seeks to confirm the effectiveness of these devices in improving speech outcomes for users. The findings could provide valuable insights into the long-term benefits of this technology for individuals with cochlear hearing loss.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals who have been implanted with HiRes Ultra or HiRes Ultra 3D SlimJ cochlear implants and use the acoustic earhook system.

Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the inclusion criteria or who have not consented to the use of their data for research may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of speech performance improvements in cochlear implant users, leading to better device recommendations and patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific technology, similar studies have shown positive outcomes in assessing speech performance in cochlear implant users, indicating a potential for success.
