What this trial studies
This observational study conducts a retrospective analysis of biologics used for treating severe asthma in Hong Kong. It aims to evaluate the characteristics and conditions of patients before and after receiving biologic therapy, utilizing data from medical records of asthma patients treated with biologics since 2003. The study will gather information on the types of biologics used, indications for treatment, and patient demographics, while ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with ethical guidelines.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 18 years or older diagnosed with severe asthma who have received biologic therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with significant respiratory diseases other than asthma, such as tuberculosis or lung cancer, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the effectiveness and safety of biologics for severe asthma, potentially improving treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific local population, similar studies have shown success in evaluating biologics for asthma in other regions, suggesting potential for valuable findings.
