What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of an educational smartphone application designed to change behaviors related to tick encounters and prevent tick-borne diseases. Participants will use the Tick App to log their daily activities and interactions with ticks over a week, providing real-time data on their behaviors and risk factors. The study aims to gather insights into how educational messaging can influence preventive measures against tick bites. Conducted across the United States, particularly in the upper Midwest and Northeast, it will enroll up to 1000 individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals willing to engage with the Tick App and complete daily activity logs for a week.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable or unwilling to commit to logging their activities for the required duration may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly reduce the incidence of tick bites and tick-borne diseases by promoting effective preventive behaviors.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies, such as the one conducted in the Netherlands with a similar educational app, have shown positive outcomes in changing user behavior towards tick prevention.
