What this trial studies

SAFRO2202 is a prospective, multicenter, non-interventional registry enrolling adults with confirmed lung cancer (NSCLC, SCLC, or carcinoid) who were diagnosed at inclusion or within the prior 12 months. The study runs across 21 public and university hospitals in Algeria and captures data during routine clinical care with no study-specific visits or interventions. Patient data are entered into a secure electronic case report form and include demographics, risk factors (notably smoking), tumor histology, staging, molecular markers (for example EGFR, ALK, PD-L1, KRAS, ROS1), treatments, and outcomes including treatment-related side effects. The registry plans to enroll about 1,500 patients per year over a 30-month period to generate real-world national-level evidence on lung cancer management and outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of NSCLC, SCLC, or carcinoid tumor diagnosed at inclusion or within the past 12 months who are fully managed at one of the participating oncology or pulmonology departments and who provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients under 18, those diagnosed more than 12 months before inclusion, those not managed at a participating center, or those currently enrolled in an interventional clinical trial are not eligible and therefore will not benefit from participation in this registry.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the registry could improve understanding of how lung cancer is diagnosed and treated across Algeria and guide better resource planning and treatment choices for future patients.

How similar studies have performed: National and regional lung cancer registries have previously provided valuable real-world insights into epidemiology and treatment patterns, though they do not test new therapies directly.
