What this trial studies

This is a two-arm, parallel-group randomized controlled trial comparing AI-based educational videos with conventional oral health instruction for older adults who use removable prostheses. Participants are randomized to receive either the AI videos or standard instruction and are followed to measure changes in denture care knowledge, patient satisfaction, and oral health-related quality of life. The trial excludes people with cognitive impairment, those rehabilitated with fixed prostheses, and those who received structured denture education in the prior six months. All study visits are conducted at Gulf Medical University in Ajman.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults over 50 who use removable dentures, can give informed consent, and do not have cognitive impairment or recent structured denture education are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairment, those with fixed prostheses, or those who received structured denture education within the last six months are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, AI-based videos could provide a scalable way to improve denture self-care, patient satisfaction, and oral health-related quality of life for older adults.

How similar studies have performed: Video and digital education have shown benefits for self-care and satisfaction in related oral and geriatric contexts, but AI-tailored video interventions specifically for denture care are relatively novel and not widely tested.
