AI-supported screening and treatment selection for cervical cancer in low-income countries

A Novel, One Stop, Affordable, Point of Care and Artificial Intelligence Supported System of Screening, Triage and Treatment Selection for Cervical Cancer and Precancer in the Low-to-middle Income Countries

Not applicable Interventional International Agency for Research on Cancer · NCT06042543

What this trial studies

This project aims to develop and validate a novel artificial intelligence system for cervical cancer screening and treatment decision-making. The AI will analyze infrared spectroscopic signals from urine samples to detect high-risk human papillomavirus (hr-HPV) and interpret cervical images to identify high-grade precancers and cancers. By screening 3200 women aged 25 to 49 who have not been screened in the last three years, the study seeks to improve cervical cancer outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. The approach combines innovative technology with a focus on accessibility and affordability.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 25 to 49 who have not undergone cervical screening in the past three years.

Not a fit: Patients who are actively menstruating, pregnant, or have previously been treated for cervical precancer or cancer may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly enhance early detection and treatment of cervical cancer, potentially saving lives in underserved populations.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using AI for cancer detection, but this specific approach combining urine spectroscopy and AI for cervical cancer screening is relatively novel.
