What this trial studies
This study aims to develop and evaluate an innovative AI-empowered augmented reality (AR) system designed for hand hygiene training among undergraduate students in health-related disciplines. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the AI-based AR training group or a traditional hand scanner and video training group. The effectiveness of the training will be assessed through pre- and post-intervention evaluations, focusing on knowledge and practical application of hand hygiene. Feedback from participants will also be collected to refine the training tool.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are undergraduate students enrolled in nursing, optometry, or applied biology and chemical technology programs.
Not a fit: Students with severe eczema or other extreme hand conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this training system could significantly improve hand hygiene practices among health students, potentially reducing healthcare-associated infections.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI and AR in educational settings is gaining traction, this specific approach to hand hygiene training is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
