What this trial studies
This study evaluates an AI-assisted model for screening visual impairment in a community setting, comparing its performance, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness against traditional screening methods. Participants aged 50 and above will undergo vision screening using either the AI-assisted model or the conventional approach. The study aims to determine if the AI model improves accuracy in screening and referrals while also assessing its feasibility and acceptability among participants. Feedback from participants will contribute to understanding the operational aspects and costs associated with each method.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 50 years and older.
Not a fit: Patients younger than 50 years old will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate and efficient screening for visual impairment, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using AI for screening purposes, indicating potential success for this approach.
