What this trial studies
This study aims to develop and pilot test an AI-assisted, individualized, family-focused lifestyle modification intervention for glycemic control in individuals with Type 2 diabetes and physical disabilities. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group receiving telecoaching support or an attention-control group. The intervention will consist of weekly and bi-weekly telecoaching calls over six months, followed by an additional six months of follow-up without telecoaching. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of this approach in improving diabetes management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes who also have a permanent physical disability.
Not a fit: Patients currently enrolled in any diabetes-related intervention or those with severe untreated depression or other significant health issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve glycemic control and overall health outcomes for individuals with disabilities living with Type 2 diabetes.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches using telecoaching and AI in diabetes management have shown promise, this specific intervention is novel and has not been extensively tested.
