What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the DiscoveryTM AI-assisted polyp detector during screening colonoscopies to improve the detection rates of colorectal polyps and adenomas. By utilizing artificial intelligence, the system aims to reduce the number of missed lesions that can occur during conventional procedures. The study will involve adults aged 45 and older who are referred for screening colonoscopy and have adequate bowel preparation. The goal is to assess how well this AI technology can enhance the quality of colonoscopy and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 45 and older who are scheduled for a screening colonoscopy and have adequate bowel preparation.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of colorectal carcinoma or inflammatory bowel disease, as well as those unable to provide informed consent, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce the incidence of missed colorectal lesions, leading to earlier detection and treatment of colorectal cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with AI-assisted detection systems in colonoscopy, indicating potential for success with this novel approach.
