Advanced ultrasound protocols for arm, kidney, and brain blood vessels

Unlock the Power of Resona 9 Ultrasound Machine: an Observational Study to Set-up and Test New Advanced Vascular Imaging Protocols

Observational Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research · NCT06841887

This will test new advanced ultrasound scans of arm, kidney, and brain blood vessels in adults without prior kidney or brain disease to create reference values and check measurement repeatability.

What this trial studies

This single-center observational project will perform ultrasound examinations using the new Resona 9 system on 60 adult volunteers at the Mario Negri Institute's Clinical Research Centre in Ranica, Italy. Participants aged 18–75 with no history of kidney or cerebral disease will undergo standardized ultrasound acquisitions of arm, cerebral, and renal vascular territories and may be asked to return for repeat exams to test reproducibility. The primary aim is to set up and test advanced ultrasound imaging protocols, while secondary objectives include defining normal reference ranges, evaluating repeatability and reproducibility of measurements, and examining correlations with age and sex. Quantitative image processing will be used to identify potential imaging biomarkers and inform future diagnostic or monitoring applications.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18–75 who can give informed consent and have no prior kidney, cerebral, or other vascular-impacting diseases.

Not a fit: People with a history of kidney or cerebral disease, or those unable to consent or cooperate, are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the project could provide more reproducible, high-resolution noninvasive imaging protocols and reference values to improve detection and monitoring of vascular changes in renal and cerebral conditions.

How similar studies have performed: Previous ultrasound and imaging-biomarker research supports the feasibility of noninvasive vascular measurements, but these specific Resona 9–based advanced protocols and the planned reference-value set are largely novel.
