What this trial studies
This pilot study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of double-duty interventions in tackling both undernutrition and overnutrition among children under five years old in Debre Berhan City, Ethiopia. By employing a cluster randomized controlled trial design, the study will involve 456 children, divided into two groups, to assess the impact of integrated nutrition behavior change communication. The goal is to provide a comprehensive approach to combat the double burden of malnutrition, which poses significant health risks to young children. The study will run from January 25, 2023, to December 30, 2023.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children under five years old who are attending the intervention in Debre Berhan City.
Not a fit: Patients who do not attend the intervention will not receive any benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve nutritional outcomes for children under five by addressing both undernutrition and overnutrition simultaneously.
How similar studies have performed: While the concept of double-duty interventions is gaining attention, this specific approach in the context of children under five is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
