What this trial studies
This project aims to adapt, implement, and evaluate a trauma and violence informed care (TVIC) intervention specifically for Black women in middle Tennessee. Over five years, the study will engage a stakeholder committee to tailor the intervention, implement it at the healthcare provider level, and evaluate its effectiveness in improving patient outcomes. The intervention includes trauma-informed screening, brief interventions, and referrals to treatment, with a focus on enhancing healthcare providers' self-efficacy and aligning their practices with trauma-informed care principles.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Black women who are survivors of intimate partner violence and are patients at Meharry Medical College or Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center.
Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as Black women or who are not survivors of intimate partner violence will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the healthcare experiences and outcomes for Black women who are survivors of intimate partner violence.
How similar studies have performed: While trauma-informed care approaches have been explored in various contexts, this specific adaptation for Black women experiencing intimate partner violence is novel and has not been extensively tested.
