What this trial studies
This observational study aims to adapt and implement an evidence-based peer support model tailored to Brazilian culture to improve engagement and continuity of care for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI). The research addresses the significant treatment gap in Brazil, where many individuals with mental disorders do not access community-based care. By involving stakeholders in a participatory research design, the study seeks to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, safety, and tolerability of this culturally-responsive intervention. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life and wellbeing for those living with SMI in Brazil.
