What this trial studies

This study aims to adapt the Critical Time Intervention (CTI) specifically for young adults aged 18-24 who are experiencing mental health challenges and transitioning into a rapid rehousing program. The intervention includes structured case management and support from a mental health liaison and a peer support specialist. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive the CTI-YAMH intervention or standard housing supports from another agency. The study will initially conduct a pilot phase to refine the intervention before testing its feasibility in a larger randomized trial.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are young adults aged 18-24 who are on the housing eligibility list and exhibit psychological distress or have a prior diagnosis of a mental disorder.

Not a fit: Patients aged 25 or older, those who are not English speaking, or those not eligible for rapid rehousing will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve mental health outcomes and housing stability for young adults facing homelessness.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar interventions targeting mental health and housing stability, indicating a promising approach.
