What this trial studies
This prospective cohort study aims to evaluate the impact of an adapted dance program on youth with cerebral palsy. Participants will undergo a pre-dance program assessment, engage in a 10-week dance program totaling 20 hours, and complete a post-dance program assessment. The study seeks to determine both the clinical benefits of participation and the feasibility of implementing such a program using action-observation principles. By focusing on enhancing physical activity and social inclusion, the study addresses a significant gap in leisure activity opportunities for children with cerebral palsy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 4-17 years with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, specifically those with GMFCS levels 1 or 2 and MACS levels 1-3.
Not a fit: Patients with uncontrolled epilepsy or severe behavioral problems may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could improve physical activity levels and social inclusion for children with cerebral palsy.
How similar studies have performed: While limited, existing studies on adapted dance programs for children with disabilities suggest potential benefits, indicating this approach may be promising yet still relatively novel.
