What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of pelvic floor exercises combined with acupuncture on individuals suffering from overactive bladder syndrome (OAB). Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving both treatments and the other receiving only pelvic floor exercises over a 12-week period. The aim is to assess improvements in urinary urgency, frequency, and overall quality of life. The study targets patients aged 50-60 with a clinical diagnosis of idiopathic OAB and specific inclusion criteria.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 50-60 with a clinical diagnosis of idiopathic overactive bladder syndrome who have had 2-3 vaginal deliveries.
Not a fit: Patients with other underlying conditions contributing to OAB symptoms, such as urinary tract infections or neurological disorders, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the management of overactive bladder symptoms and enhance patients' quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While acupuncture and pelvic floor exercises have been studied separately, this combined approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
