What this trial studies
This observational project will develop the Active Health Behavior Scale for adults with Type 2 diabetes and examine its psychometric properties, including internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and multiple forms of validity. The study will enroll patients and experienced endocrine clinicians/nurses for content validation and pilot administration of the scale. Researchers will use cross-sectional survey data and latent profile analysis to identify distinct behavioral subtypes among patients. Differences in demographic, clinical, and psychosocial factors across identified classes will be compared to inform tailored intervention strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older with a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes who can communicate and consent are ideal participants, with clinicians and nurses (≥5 years endocrine experience) involved for content validation.
Not a fit: Patients with acute life‑threatening complications or cognitive impairment that prevents reliable communication are unlikely to benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the scale could help identify patients' behavior patterns so clinicians can offer more targeted lifestyle support to improve glucose control and reduce complications.
How similar studies have performed: Behavioral scale development and latent profile analyses have been used successfully in diabetes and other chronic diseases, but this specific Active Health Behavior Scale is new and requires validation.
