What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) based stress management program on psychological flexibility and caregiver burden among caregivers of patients with schizophrenia. It is a randomized controlled trial comparing the intervention group receiving ACT with a control group that does not receive any intervention. The study aims to determine if ACT can enhance psychological resilience and reduce the burden experienced by caregivers. By focusing on the relationship between psychological flexibility and caregiver burden, the research seeks to provide insights into effective support strategies for caregivers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are primary caregivers aged 18-65 who have been caring for a patient diagnosed with schizophrenia for over a year and live in the same household.
Not a fit: Patients who do not live with the schizophrenia patient or have mental illnesses themselves may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce caregiver burden and improve mental health outcomes for those caring for schizophrenia patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that family interventions can effectively reduce caregiver burden and improve outcomes, suggesting potential success for this approach.
