What this trial studies

This research aims to educate families about various technologies that can support home care for individuals experiencing memory difficulties, specifically those with mild dementia or mild cognitive impairment. The 'Let's Talk Tech' tool is a web application designed to facilitate discussions between patients and their care partners about technology options, enhancing their preparedness and confidence in decision-making. Participants will be randomly assigned to either use the tool or receive usual care, and their experiences will be assessed through surveys at multiple time points to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 55 or older with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia, along with their primary support person.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia, or those who cannot engage with the technology due to language or comprehension barriers, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this tool could empower families to make informed decisions about technology use in dementia care, improving the quality of life for both patients and caregivers.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of 'Let's Talk Tech' is novel, similar interventions focusing on technology decision-making in dementia care have shown promise in enhancing caregiver support and patient outcomes.
